Iranian Armed Forces Ready for Preemptive Military Action if an Imminent Threat Emerges” — Army Spokesman
TEHRAN, Iran | September 29, 2026 | The Global Journal
Iran’s armed forces are prepared to conduct preemptive military operations if an imminent threat emerges against the country, according to Brigadier General Amir Akraminia, spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Army. He also said that following the recent war, Iran has moved its military doctrine from a traditionally defensive posture toward a more offensive strategy.
Akraminia made the remarks in response to questions from an Al-Alam correspondent about US military activities in the region and the possibility of a new war.
He said US forces remain active in the Middle East. Regarding the possibility of renewed conflict, he said Iran had used the ceasefire period to reassess and strengthen its military capabilities.
According to Akraminia, during this period Iran updated its target bank, improved military equipment, incorporated new weapons and equipment into its combat structure, and applied the experiences and lessons learned from the recent war.
Iranian Claims About US Military Bases
Akraminia claimed that the US military position in the Middle East is currently weaker than before. According to his remarks, aerial and satellite imagery, along with field observations, indicate that several US military bases in the region have suffered serious damage.
He further claimed that the damage has created logistical and supply problems for US forces. In particular, he said damage to the US Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain has created difficulties with fuel and food supplies.
According to his account, the United States has been forced to rely on alternative supply routes, including from East Asia and the Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean.
However, the claims regarding damage to US military bases and resulting supply problems have not been independently verified in this report.

Claims About US Troops’ Morale
Regarding the morale of US forces, Akraminia claimed that some US soldiers had committed suicide and that American forces were under psychological pressure.
These claims were made by an Iranian military official and have not been independently confirmed by other sources.
Akraminia said Iran’s overall assessment is that the current situation is unfavorable for the United States. He claimed Washington could take aggressive action in an attempt to change the situation, while also arguing that the US currently lacks a clear strategy.
Shift From Defensive to Offensive Strategy
Discussing Iran’s military strategy and the concept of preemptive warfare, Akraminia said the UN Charter prohibits the use of force except in cases of legitimate self-defense. However, according to him, following the recent 12-day war, Iran has placed greater emphasis on preemptive military operations.
He said the late Brigadier General Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi had strongly pursued a shift in Iran’s military doctrine from defense toward an offensive strategy.
Akraminia claimed that during the recent conflict, Iran implemented this strategy by striking positions belonging to anti-Iranian and separatist groups in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.
Concerns Over Attacks Along Iran’s Western Border
The Iranian Army spokesman also claimed that large quantities of weapons had been supplied to separatist and anti-Iranian groups based on statements by the US president. He alleged that the objective was to enable attacks against Iran’s western land borders alongside a possible US attack.
According to Akraminia, Iran struck the positions of these groups before they could launch an attack. He described this as “a kind of preemptive war.”
He claimed that since those operations, the anti-Iranian groups have not been able to conduct any operation against Iran’s land borders.
Iran’s latest statements come amid continuing tensions over US military activity in the Middle East and concerns about the possibility of renewed conflict between Tehran and Washington. The claims made by the Iranian military spokesman should be considered alongside statements from the other parties and independently verifiable information.
