There Is No Alternative for the United States but to Withdraw Its Forces from the Middle East and Iran’s Region — Iranian National Security Commission Chairman Ebrahim Azizi

— Global Journal | Tehran, Iran | September 3, 2026

Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Chairman Ebrahim Azizi has called for the complete withdrawal of US military forces from the Middle East, saying there is no alternative for Washington but to pull its troops out of the region. He claimed that the presence of American forces does not provide security but instead increases insecurity for the countries and peoples of the region.

Allegation of US Strike on Wedding Ceremony in Sirik

In an interview with Mehr News Agency, Azizi alleged that a US strike on a wedding ceremony in the southern Iranian city of Sirik was a sign of America’s “inability, helplessness and desperation.” He also claimed that several Iranians were killed in the incident.

According to Azizi, the United States has reached a “strategic dead end” because it lacks the capability to confront Iran’s armed forces and people, and is therefore resorting to what he described as “criminal and reprehensible acts.”

Warning of a Strong Response to the United States

The senior Iranian lawmaker said the United States would face a “decisive, devastating and regret-inducing response”, similar to responses it had received in the past.

He said that as long as the resolve of the Iranian people and armed forces remains firm, Washington will have no option but to submit to the will of the Iranian people.

Azizi said, “Their only path is to retreat and leave the region completely.”

Criticism of US Military Presence in the Middle East

Azizi claimed that the US military presence in the Middle East does not provide security. Instead, he argued, it creates greater insecurity for countries and populations across the region.

He said the Islamic Republic of Iran remains determined to define its own defense and security environment and exercise power accordingly.

Iran Claims It Has the Capability to Respond

Rejecting any assumption that Iran lacks the ability to respond to the United States, Azizi said, “They should not imagine that we cannot answer them. Iran is strong.”

He claimed that Iran’s armed forces are now in a stronger position in terms of military equipment and capabilities than they were at the beginning of the so-called Ramadan war.

Referring to discussions with several regional commanders in the Persian Gulf, Azizi claimed that Iran had subsequently produced and stockpiled more military equipment than it had used during the 40-day war.

Claim of Readiness for Military Operations

Azizi said Iran has the necessary capabilities for both offensive and defensive operations under its military doctrine.

He claimed that the United States is now facing shortages of weapons and equipment as well as a strategic dead end, while Iran possesses the infrastructure and equipment required for various strategic and tactical military operations.

Azizi’s remarks come amid heightened tensions surrounding the US-Iran conflict and the broader security situation in the Middle East. However, his claims regarding the alleged US strike on the wedding ceremony in Sirik and the resulting casualties have not been independently verified.
