Yemen Houthis claim large-scale missile and drone attack on Saudi military base in the southern part

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group has claimed that it launched a large-scale ballistic missile and drone attack against a Saudi military base in the southern part of the kingdom.
According to the Houthis, the operation targeted military infrastructure, including weapons depots and command-and-control facilities. The group said the attack was carried out in response to continued Saudi airstrikes against Houthi positions in Yemen.
The Houthis have threatened to launch larger attacks deeper inside Saudi Arabia if Saudi military operations in Yemen continue. Saudi authorities have not independently confirmed the extent of the alleged damage.

Houthis expand control along the Red Sea
The latest attack comes as the Houthis continue to expand their territorial control along Yemen’s Red Sea coast and around the strategically important Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Yemeni government and Houthi officials said the group has taken control of the Greater Hanish and Lesser Hanish islands, following its earlier seizure of the Red Sea port city of Mokha and Mayyun Island, also known as Perim.
The advances have strengthened the Houthis’ position around one of the world’s key maritime corridors linking the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and the wider Indian Ocean.

Growing regional security concerns
The escalation has raised concerns over Saudi Arabia’s security, regional stability and the safety of international shipping.
The Houthis’ growing presence around Bab al-Mandab could also increase pressure on oil shipments and global trade, particularly as the wider Middle East conflict continues to disrupt major energy routes.
The latest developments mark another sharp escalation in the Saudi-Houthi confrontation, with both sides facing growing military and diplomatic pressure.
